Top 3 Content Creation Challenges Solo-Entrepreneurs Face and How to Solve Them

Top 3 Content Creation Challenges

Did you know that 90% of  consumers use search engines to make buying decisions?

What are they looking for?

They are looking for content that educates them about their problem. They’re searching for someone who has taken the time to address their concerns and offer guidance on selecting an option to help them find relief.

Now let me ask you, if you were visiting your website, would you buy from you? Could you find the information you need to be inspired to action?

If your honest answer is a big fat “No”, you’re not alone.

Studies show that “producing enough content” and “producing engaging content” top the list of the biggest content marketing challenges haunting business owners.

I posed the question, “What’s your biggest challenge when it comes to creating content to market your business? “, to one of my online communities and discovered that there are 3 common questions that keep busy entrepreneurs struggling to create content to grow their business.

Drum roll please…

#1. Lack of Time

Many solo-entrepreneurs struggle with the issue of time. With everything you have going on in your life, how do you find time to write articles, shoot and publish videos and other content to market your business?

The best way to overcome the issue of time, is to plan ahead.

Set some time aside each month to plan your marketing and content at least 3 months in advance. Create an editorial calendar to plan out topics. Pre-create and pre-schedule as much content as you can. This will give you breathing room and ensure that you have some strategic communication happening even if you get busy.

Plus, you’ll be better positioned to take advantage of other opportunities without sacrificing your marketing.

#2. Lack of Money

There are two types of money leaks that can affect your ability to create effective content.

  1. Poor Investments in Content Creation:  If you don’t understand how content relates to your overall business objectives, you’ll end up wasting money on random content creation services and products that do nothing to build your business.
And if this happens enough, you might decide that content is a waste of time and money period. Bad move.
  2. No Investment in Content Creation: Many entrepreneurs make the mistake of viewing content as a luxury vs survival. Content is communication. If you are not communicating , you’re not marketing. And if you’re not marketing, you’re business is dying.

#3.  What do I say?

Whether content’s got your tongue and you can’t think of anything that makes sense, Or, your head is filled with ideas and you don’t know where to start,  listen up.

It’s a powerful tip I learned from Mike Koenings of Traffic Geyser fame.

Create a list of FAQ questions and answer them.

  • Choose one product or service as a point of focus.
  • Create a list of 10 Frequently Asked Questions. These are going to be common questions your audience wants to know about your product or service.
  • Next, Answer these question in a format that’s easy for you (audio, video or written). You can always re-purpose it later.
  • Now, don’t just post it all at once. You can schedule each question to post on the same day and time weekly.

What day is a matter of testing. Typically the best days to publish content to be seen are Tues, Wed or Thurs.

This is super easy to do in WordPress.

Boom! You now have 10 weeks of blog content.

Double your content by creating 10 Should Ask Questions or “SAQs”. These are questions your audience needs to know which allows you to showcase your expertise and how your offerings can transform their life or business.

For example, “How much does it cost to hire a life coach”? is a frequently asked question.  “What are the top five things I need to know before investing in life coaching services”?

That’s all folks! Now get in action. Look at your business and see where you can begin apply the above fixes.
